Ontario Darfur Women’s Organization (ODWO) was proud to bring our community together for a joyful Canada Day 2026 celebration filled with creativity, connection, food, and family-friendly activities. Children and youth took part in our “Paint Your Future” activity, using art to express their creativity, dreams, and hopes for the future. Families gathered to enjoy food, activities, conversation, and time together while celebrating Canada Day in a welcoming community environment. The celebration was about more than just having fun. It created an opportunity for children, youth, women, families, and community members to connect, build relationships, and feel a sense of belonging. We are grateful to everyone who participated, volunteered, and helped make the celebration possible. We look forward to continuing to create inclusive spaces where our community can connect, celebrate, and grow together.

Ontario Darfur Women’s Organization (ODWO) brought women and families together at Woodbine Beach for our “Unity in Action” community event — an afternoon centred on connection, support, culture, and togetherness. Community members came together to connect with one another, enjoy the afternoon, and access free clothing generously provided by Home Essential Newcomer Support. The event created a welcoming space where women could meet, build relationships, and support one another while strengthening their sense of community. The afternoon was filled with beautiful moments of cultural celebration, laughter, dancing, and conversation. Women proudly wore colourful traditional clothing, shared stories, took photos together, and celebrated the strength and diversity within our community. More than anything, Unity in Action reflected the importance of women supporting women. By bringing people together and sharing available resources, we continue working toward a community where women and families feel welcomed, connected, and supported. We are grateful to everyone who joined us and helped make the day special, and to Home Essential Newcomer Support for their generous contribution. Together, we are building a stronger and more connected community.
