Welcome to the ODWO Settlement Services Program. We are committed to supporting Darfuri women and families as they begin their new lives in Ontario. Our services are designed to be culturally sensitive, trauma-informed, and responsive to the unique needs of Darfuri newcomers.
What We Offer:
Personalized Support & Case Management
- Individual intake and needs assessment
- Customized settlement plans
- Referrals to legal, health, housing, and other essential services
Orientation & Information Sessions
- Life in Canada: rights, responsibilities, and cultural norms
- Navigating public services: healthcare, education, transportation
- Safety and legal rights, including protection from gender-based violence
Language & Communication Assistance
- English and French language classes
- Informal conversation circles for women
- Translation and interpretation in Arabic and Fur
Housing & Financial Support
- Help finding safe, affordable housing
- Guidance on financial assistance programs (Ontario Works, Child Tax Benefits, etc.)
- Budgeting and financial literacy workshops
Health & Wellness Services
- OHIP registration and healthcare access
- Mental health support groups
- Reproductive health education and referrals
Employment & Skills Development
- Resume writing and job search support
- Vocational training and mentorship
- Partnerships with local employers and agencies
Legal & Immigration Support
- Refugee claims, PR applications, and citizenship assistance
- Referrals to immigration lawyers
- Family reunification and sponsorship guidance
Community Engagement & Leadership
- Women’s empowerment and leadership training
- Volunteer opportunities and civic engagement

Youth & Family Services
- School registration and tutoring
