Executive Director – Nawal Abdalla

Nawal Abdalla is a passionate advocate for refugee and newcomer communities in Canada. Originally from Sudan, she brings a wealth of experience in community health and humanitarian service. A graduate of the University of Khartoum, Nawal served as a Community Health Promoter with the Red Cross, the International Rescue Committee (IRC), and UNICRI at the Kakuma Refugee Camp in Kenya.

Now based in Ontario, Nawal is continuing her education at Centennial College while remaining deeply committed to supporting women and families as they navigate life in a new country. Her volunteer efforts include organizing cultural events, leading educational workshops, and sharing vital resources to foster resilient and connected communities.

Nawal is a founding member of the Ontario Darfur Women’s Organization, where she leads initiatives that empower women and promote healing and growth. She also plays an active role in the Sudanese Community Association of Ontario, helping ensure that newcomers have access to programs and opportunities that support their well-being.

Her work is rooted in compassion, resilience, and a deep belief in the power of community.
